BACHELOR’S PROGRAM

Each graduate of the Bachelor’s Program in Tourism will have the following learning outcomes:

ATTITUDE:

  1. Be devoted to the One Almighty God and demonstrate a religious attitude.
  2. Uphold human values in carrying out tasks based on religion, morals, and ethics.
  3. Contribute to the improvement of the quality of life in society, the nation, and the progress of civilization based on Pancasila.
  4. Act as a proud and patriotic citizen, possessing nationalism and a sense of responsibility towards the country and nation.
  5. Respect cultural diversity, beliefs, and opinions, as well as the original findings of others.
  6. Collaborate and possess social awareness and concern for the community and the environment.

KNOWLEDGE MASTERY:

In-depth theoretical concepts of tourism, including:

  • Tourism systems and phenomena
  • Sustainable tourism development
  • Tourism resources, infrastructure, and attractions
  • Tourist typologies and behaviors
  • Tourism life cycles

Mastery of theoretical concepts in areas such as:

  • Cultural anthropology of tourists
  • Operational management (planning, implementation, direction, monitoring, evaluation, and control) of service organizations and tourism product services
  • Human resources management, finance, and logistics of service organizations and tourism product services
  • Marketing of service organizations and tourism products

Understanding of the concept and principles of global tourism ethics (Global Code of Ethics for Tourism).

Understanding of concepts and methods, including:

  • Policy gap analysis
  • Setting quality standards for tourism service and product quality
  • Self-resilience in the workplace for tourism organizations and client handling

Mastery of concepts, principles, and techniques, such as:

  • Marketing of tourism services and products
  • Cultural and community pedagogy
  • Oral and written communication in Bahasa Indonesia and at least one international or other foreign language
  • Presentation, negotiation, and communication techniques for conveying ideas, policies, alternative solutions, and recommendations
  • Analysis of financial reports and ratios, including return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), future value (FV), and internal rate of return (IRR)
  • Excellent service
  • Safety, health, occupational safety, and environmental protection (SHSE) in providing tourism services and products, including Basic Life Support (BLS)

Factual knowledge of tourism competitiveness indexes.


SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • Identifying, analyzing, evaluating, and recommending improvements to the effectiveness of interactions between stakeholders (government, society, business, and industry) in tourism aspects within a destination at the site level and small and medium enterprises, using impact analysis, strengths-weaknesses-opportunities-threats (SWOT) analysis, hierarchy-based analysis, and performance analysis.
  • Identifying and analyzing factors influencing the effectiveness of the implementation of policies under the Ministry of Tourism.
  • Enhancing the performance of small and medium-sized tourism organizations, including the ability to:
    • Provide excellent hospitality services
    • Build professional relationships inside and outside the tourism organization (clients, including tourists and visitors, suppliers, industry, government, and other relevant stakeholders) that lead to organizational performance improvement.
    • Adapt and develop comprehensive service quality standards with an emphasis on safety, cultural diversity, special needs, and local wisdom.
    • Analyze, improve, and develop parts of the tourism organization’s customer or client satisfaction system from a time, price, and culturally sensitive service transaction perspective. This includes the ability to:
      • Develop effective and efficient survey strategies.
      • Develop programs to collect data and customer or client satisfaction information.
      • Test the system.
  • Develop concepts, strategies, and programs to handle tourist or client complaints that can reduce the impact on the image of the tourism organization.
  • In the area of professionalism in tourism service providers, being able to implement and improve workplace stress management systems for both the internal tourism organization and client handling in a comprehensive manner, taking into account the social and cultural diversity of clients, special needs, and local wisdom.
  • Implement and improve a positive human resources management system, including leadership, teamwork based on team dynamics, and conflict management in working with a basic cross-sector tourism knowledge.
  • Analyze job descriptions in tourism organizations up to the manager level to meet the requirements for job type, depth and breadth of information, information collection methods, and valid and reliable information sources.
  • Implement the tourism organization’s human resources management system, including recruitment, placement, promotion, transfer, and termination of employees, based on applicable labor regulations, principles of effectiveness, efficiency, and justice.
  • Implement a comprehensive performance assessment system for the tourism organization’s human resources up to the manager level, including defining the scope and performance targets, measurement strategies, performance measurement cycles, programs, activities, and feedback mechanisms to improve overall performance.
  • Implement a human resources training system for tourism organization employees up to the manager level, including defining the scope and training targets, strategies, training cycles, programs, activities, and short- and medium-term training evaluation results.
  • Educate internal personnel and tourists or clients to use tourism services or products safely, healthily, and responsibly, following applicable regulations and operational procedures.
  • In the area of promotion and marketing, develop new marketing strategies for tourism products and services in a simulation.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and propose alternative solutions to marketing problems, especially in terms of effectiveness and marketing practices applied by tourism organizations.
  • In the financial management area, implement the company/organization’s budget planning system.
  • Implement the internal control system in the procurement and inventory logistics area of the company/organization.
  • In the area of Safety, Health, Occupational Safety, and Environmental (SHSE), implement and improve the SHSE system while clients use tourism services and products, including emergency situations. This includes providing Basic Life Support (BLS) to clients in emergency situations, following established procedures, and ensuring that the tourism organization is prepared for such events.
  • Implement and improve the SHSE system for organizations providing tourism services and products, including emergency situations.

GENERAL SKILLS:

  • Apply logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking in the development or implementation of scientific knowledge and technology while considering and applying relevant human values within their field of expertise.
  • Demonstrate independent, quality, and measurable performance.
  • Evaluate the implications of developing or implementing scientific and technological knowledge that considers and applies relevant human values within their area of expertise based on scientific principles, procedures, and ethics to produce solutions, ideas, designs, or art criticism. They must also produce scientific descriptions of their research in the form of a thesis or final project report and upload it to the university’s website.
